What Inspired You to Choose This Activity?
Living in a digital age where news is now predominantly casted through social media, I took notice of the ignorant and feckless arguing on Twitter from both sides of the political spectrum. Fueled by hate and reluctance, I've discovered that most Republicans and Democrats on Twitter seek measures that only discredit the other's arguments rather than chasing genuine solvency and a common ground. The hate and pure overdose of pride held in the hearts of politicians i found to be unacceptable in our current political climate. endlessly observing the hateful, rude remarks towards the opposing political party whether it's republicans calling democrats "snowflakes" or democrats calling republicans "hicks," "racists," and "rednecks," I think it's about time that our institutions drop their differences and begin to work together for the welfare of our country.
What Are Your Short Term Goals?
I am a firm believer that my short term goal is one built on concision and compassion; although it may be simple, I think it's a project that will truly make a crucial impact on my local community. I hope to unite countless students and adults of all political affiliations to a space where they can respectfully debate and discover reconciliation through ping pong and sportsmanship. My mission is not simply to create understanding between Democrats and Republicans; it's also to uncover the respect and collaboration between the two main parties overshadowed by arrogance and selfishness.
What Is Your Ultimate Goal?
American politics has suffered substantial damage due to the increasing divide between the two main parties since 1994. My ultimate goal is to bridge the gaps between the two main parties and rediscover understanding between politicians in our Central Government. In the end, Democracy is a system which requires cooperation and partnership between both politicians and everyday civilians: so why not work towards a cause that'll benefit the greater good?
What's Your Personal Investment In This Activity?
Through educating and opening the minds of my peers, I find myself in a position where I have the opportunity to create genuine, sophisticated conversation between affiliates of both the largest political parties in the United States. I believe I get to enjoy the personal fulfillment of bringing people of two polar mindsets together to create solvency and change through civilized debate and ping pong.
